Here at Gleeson Recruitment Group we think it’s really important to take responsibility for our impact on society and our local community.
We are a charitable bunch and nothing gets us more excited than doing something silly in the name of a good cause! The charity we support is Midlands and Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
Midlands Air Ambulance is the charity responsible for funding and operating three air ambulances serving the communities of six Midlands counties: Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands. This constitutes the largest air ambulance operating region in the UK. What is not widely known is that Midlands Air Ambulance receives no Government or National Lottery funding. Each Midlands Air Ambulance mission costs £2,500 and in excess of £6.5 million is needed each year to keep its three air ambulances operational, which is donated entirely by the public and local businesses.
MAA do a fantastic job and we support their cause by holding fundraising events such as our Gleeson Family Fun Day, running in the Birmingham Half Marathon, participating in charity golf days and sending teams to do crazy things such as the Bear Grylls Challenge in South Africa!
In 2016 we raised a total of £15,000 for the charity, which surpassed our target, which we are incredibly proud of! Now it’s on to bigger & better for 2016…
We decided that the best way for us to help our local communities was to use the huge skill-base that we have amongst our employees to help school leavers when they are entering the job market. Many of our employees have been helping professionals to get new jobs for more than ten years – so we wanted to pass on some of this knowledge and experience to help educate young people about the job market and to try and increase their chances of finding work after studying.
We participate in a number of activities such as Practice Interviews, Careers Fairs, Careers Talks and feedback on CVs, as well as general career and job searching advice. We have worked with, and continue to work with, a number of schools such as:
Kings Heath Boys School
North Birmingham Academy
Ellowes Hall Sports College
Handsworth Wood Girls Academy
